Research Philosophies and Principles

Introduction

This article compares the methodological approaches undertaken by the authors from four peer reviewed tourism journal articles, considering the research paradigms, underlying principles and different epistemological, ontological and methodological worldviews underpinning each perspective. We will refer to the concepts that have mainly discussed in this article to reinforce our viewpoints about each perspective.

Paradigm, Ontology and Epistemology

It is important to know what paradigm, ontology and epistemology means, before discussing the articles.Paradigm

The word paradigm means example, role model, and pattern or defers, Prejudice, in more general terms as a world view or belief. The term paradigm means example or model. In the field scientific, religious or other context epistemological, the term paradigm may indicate the concept of formal organizational scheme, and used as a synonym for a theoretical framework or set of theories (Taylor 2006, pp. 101-123). This concept was originally specific to the grammar; in 1900, the Merriam-Webster defines its use only in that context, or rhetoric to refer to a parable or a fable. Paradigm used to refer to a class of elements with similarities (Vallicella 2002, pp. 62-79). The term is also significant in the field of psychology, referring to meanings of ideas, thoughts, beliefs built during our first stage of life that got accepted as true or false without testing them for further analysis. The term paradigm the word originates from a Greek word “paradeigma” which in turn got divided into two words for (together) and deigma (model), in general, etymologically means model, or example. At the same time have the same roots as demonstrating (Breton 1998, pp. 203-213). In general terms, one can define the term paradigm as how to visualize and interpret many concepts, sketches or models of behavior in all stages of humanity in the psychological and philosophical, that influence the development of different societies as well as companies, integrated and influenced by the economic, intellectual, technological, scientific, cultural, artistic, and religious to be applied are subject to change according to situations and developments for the benefit of all (Murray 2006, pp. 96-111).Ontology

In ontology, there is a general term used for the basic structures of reality (Jacquette 2002 233-246). This scope is largely congruent with what the traditional terminology general metaphysics got called. Questions such as “What is man?”, “Is there a God?” or “the world has a beginning?” Are all basic examples of ontology, as these belong to the primary individual metaphysics? The ontology is in the classic philosophical system, which is a part of metaphysics, namely the general metaphysics (metaphysical generalist), as opposed to metaphysics (metaphysical specialist), that deal with God (natural theology), the soul (Natural Psychology) and the World (Natural cosmology) busy (Heidegger 1999, pp. 41-69).
