Research on Anthropology: Human Nutrition

Introduction

Anthropometry is the study, which is associated with the measurements of the different constituents and determinants of the human body and its health conditions. The results, which are achieved, are then used to rationally measure/compare the predetermined benchmarks. The study of anthropometry is typically used by nutritionists, health care professionals, and physiologist in order to identify the risks, which are associated with the body fats. However it is not necessary that the body fats are signifying the obesity; too less body fat is also equally serious concern.

The basic purpose of this study is to find the results and infer the conclusion and the discussion on the basic of the statistical analysis, which are to be extracted from the data set, which we have with us.

There are other contemporary methods of getting the exact results; however, these techniques are often used for research work because they tend to be very expensive, time consuming, and impractical to be used in field evaluations, gym environments and healthcare settings To solve the problems that outlined above a number of field techniques methods used such as Skin fold (SkF) tests, bioelectrical impedance analysis (BIA), circumference measures, and near infra-red interactance (NIR), are all doubly indirect, and are based upon regression models devised by comparing measure to criterion measurements (Williams, Going, Milliken, Hall & Lohman, 1994, Swan & McConnell, 1999) and therefore opposite to the expensive tests, tends to be less accurate and reliable, in most of the cases.

Methods

There are numerous methods, which can be used in order to find the rational research results. However, for this specific paper, we will be using various methods, including simple descriptive statistics, including mean, standard deviation and variances. However they will provide a strong base for the explanations and therefore the interpretations will have highly rational and empirical implementation.

These tests will elaborates, whether the mean or the average of the two groups is significantly different or not. In our case, we will test the average results of the two groups that we have , in order to see, whether there average results are same or not. The assumption for our test can also be put as the average results of the groups are equal or not. Furthermore, Descriptive statistics is the overall summary of quantitatively elaborating the major features that has been extracted through the collection of data. However we cannot only reply on simply descriptive statistics, because descriptive statistics intend to sum up a data set, rather than making use of the data to infer rational interpretation regarding the population, which is being represented by the sample (data set).

Equipments Used

In order to carry out the anthropometry practical effectively at some points of the measurements the students will need to assist one and another. A stadiometer was used to measure an individual's height. However to measure the individuals height properly they need to have a straight posture against the wall, shoes and ...
