The world population is approaching towards older segment of age, and rapid increase is evident in older population. The increase in their number leads to increase in their health-related problems. One significant issue is fall and fall injury rates and their rapid growth. Researches show that there are more admissions in elderly care wards due to fall and fall injury, rather than, any other disease or disorder.
Fall and injury due to fall are a rapidly growing factors in an ageing population. The paper examines how injury can be prevented, and the affect of research conducted on a sample size of 3000 people in each ward of elderly care in the hospitals. The paper examines the impact of fall prevention code in two different types of hospital wards, that is, intervention wards and control wards. The research primarily focuses upon fall and fall related factors, pertaining to the increase in admissions due to fall injury in the hospitals.

About the article
The article is extracted from 'Oxford Journal of ageing', in the year 2004. It is written by Francis Healey and other contributors, at the department of Elderly Medicine, the York district Hospital, UK. The Article talks about a research conducted on fall and fall injury, as well as, hospital admission pertaining to it (Barnett, 2002). It assesses the impact of a core intervention plan in two different types of elderly care wards, that is, intervention wards and control wards, along with its impact on reduction in injury admissions. The results show that the impact of core care plan is affirmative, and hospital wards with injury reported less fall injury admission, than the one with plan (WHO, 2007). The article is valid and effective in emphasizing the significance of intervention plan, with regard to, prevention of fall in elderly people.
Critical Analysis of the Article
A critical reflection is a critical analysis of a research to check its validity, and effectiveness of its methodology. The critical reflection on the article is divided in two sections, namely, a generalized critical analysis, as well as, analysis according to Parahoo's framework. The critical reflection on this article is discussed as under;
Generalized critical reflection
The article is a clear and descriptive research analysis presented in 'the Oxford journal of ageing'. The article is based on a randomization research in elderly care ward to assess the impact of intervention plan, pertaining to fall and fall injuries in senior citizens, who age, above 65 years (HPU, 2004).
