Question 1: What ethical issue is at the heart of the article?

The ethical issue that has been seen in the article is that of employees suffering that result from on-site incidents that lead to serious injuries for work force. It has been observed that more than 11 million employees in the United States are seriously injured and more than 11000 employees lost their lives while working on the job every year (Baker et al. 2006). In addition to that, more than $155 billion is spent by companies to provide for compensation and insurance of employees associated with injuries at the work place, which amount to more than $1400 per work-related injury (Miller 2007). Moving from at-risk to safe work practices is a key to prevent injuries.

Question 2: Why is this issue important to the conduct of research?

The ethical issue as discussed above is worth several researches because it is not only affecting workers, but the whole economy since higher injury rate leads to more turnover, more absenteeism, which directly affects the production of a company and ultimately leads to lower economic rates. Therefore, it is important to analyze this issue critically to make companies understand that what measures should be taken to lower down the injury rate on-site and how employees can be protected from such incidents. As a result, behavioral approaches can be applied to control the damages and impacts of injuries on workers they have several advantages such as (Zohar et al. 2004):

They can be administered by employees with minimal professional training.

They can reach workers in a particular setting where the problem has occurred,

The leaders can be taught about the behavioral-change and its techniques that can work under specific situations, and

They are extremely cost-effective techniques.

Question 3: What problems might arise if this issue were not addressed by a researcher?

Researchers have seldom included any experimental comparison for delivering varying ways of behavioral feedback. This has resulted in lack of safety measures by companies, which constantly lower down the production rate and affects the workers of the company, as well. Therefore, William et al. (2008) found that it is important that the study should be carried out for improving the behavioral changes that will improve safety performance without exploring the characteristics of feedback driving results from the study (Williams et al. 2008). To this end, the purpose of the study ...
