Background

An initial teaching license may be issued to applicants who have completed an approved teacher preparation program and who meet the specific Colorado license requirements. Initial teaching licenses for Elementary, Early Childhood, and Special Education Generalist as well as in specific content endorsement areas for Secondary and K-12 require completion of a state approved teacher preparation program (Educator Licensing Applications, 2011). This includes programs provided by regionally accredited colleges and universities as well as state approved alternative teacher preparation programs.
