Remote Communities

Module 3 Questions

Section 1

Answer 1

A remote community can also be known as an isolated community and is similar to the rural areas of a particular country. It is a kind of community or area where there is a lack of technology and transportation links and facilities. Moreover, the remote community also differs in the demographics as well as the social issues that the people living there face. The remote communities also lack the resources which can make the life of people easy such as the markets and other daily basis commodities (Slack, 2003).

There are several issues due to which the remote community has to look after itself. These issues entail in it the social issues, technological issues and also the health and transportation issues. The social issues include the isolation of the community and the broken connections and links from the urban areas or towns. These areas are though dependent on the urban help but due to the ignorance from the urban areas the remote communities are driven to look after themselves. The people living in the remote communities do not have access to the new technology and so they are not using to it. This is also a reason that they do not believe the new technology and people in these communities look after themselves with the help of traditional health care and older technology (Slack, 2003).

Answer 2

The self in the remote community reflects that, whom the person is in the community. This means that the self defines the sole identity of an individual in the remote areas. This is because the people settled in the remote communities are dependent on themselves for any kind of earning and essential commodities that they need for the daily use also comes from the efforts they put in for grabbing as many commodities they can as possible. This is because all the members of the families in the remote communities work in order to generate sound and decent household earnings (Slack, 2003). Section 2

Answer 1

Aboriginal culture is the culture in which the older traditions and practices are focused deeply, and there are several groups and tribes distributed or divided according to the languages and cultures. This culture also has its own pronunciations for the vowels and consonants, and it also has its own music and a very different variety of art (Colquhoun, 2012).

The aboriginal culture does not have any word for the English word 'if'. This is because firstly there is a lot of difference in the pronunciation of the languages in the aboriginal culture. This difference is from the normal English language. Apart from this another significant reason is that the consonants of the aboriginal language do not consist of the sound which ends at the 'F'. Moreover, the vowel 'I' is also differently than the English language. The vowel 'I' is pronounced like the sound of double 'E' in the standard culture (Colquhoun, 2012).
