Introduction

The study intends to illustrate the development and remodeling of the Scarborough Spa into the mixed use complex. The local authority wishes to restructure the design services, procurement, construction services, and etc as the Spa building was about 125 years old and it was last refurbished quite a long time ago approximately it has been twenty five years since it refurbished. Therefore, the local authority intends to remodel the building to facilitate modern use of the building. The paper attempts to outline the details of amount of resources requirement, management, planning, and deliverance of the work to carry out the maintenance of the Scarborough Spa building.

The Scarborough Building is officially termed as the Scarborough Spa Complex which is located in the Scarborough's South Bay. It is a famous venue for the conferences, exhibitions, entertainment and events at the Yorkshire Coast. Hence, it is the largest multipurpose British venue which is unique due to its amazing location in front of the sea which happens to mesmerize whoever visits there with the scenically beautiful south bay. However, it is believed that the revamping of the entire building will increase the beauty of the building. Moreover, the managing director of the building is looking forward in creating more space in the building to make more room for entertainment activities. This is because, the Scarborough Spa building initially has three theatres, bars, colonnade of small shops, meeting rooms, rear of house facilities, roof terraces, and outside concert enclosure. However, it requires arranging more sporting activities in order to attract the great deal of people all year round which may also include the indoor bowling, skating, or jetting skiing. However, for this reason, the budget of about £ 75 million has been allocated for the refurbishment of the Scarborough Spa Building. In short, the paper intends to identify the various stages of the construction process, roles and relationship of the members involved in the construction process, identification of resources, techniques used in controlling the resources, and functions of management in the production phase.

Discussion

The refurbishment is the process of introducing the new life into the old building that may be lacking in some of the essential facilities due to its old construction such as energy saving systems, fire detections systems, installation of air conditioning, and the thermal insulation installation. However, the restructuring is concerned with the remodeling of the building and making the space for adding more facilities such as making room for more entertainment activities as what happened in the case of Scarborough Spa building reconstruction.

Every building requires improvement to its conventional design and construction process.
