Abstract

Organizational culture can be viewed as glue that binds the organizational components together and stimulates the motivation of employees to commit to organization and give their best performance. The relationship between the success and failure of a firm with the organizational culture. The HRM is closely related to the organizational culture in the studies. According to their view, organizational culture can be used as a tool to influence the behavior of employees and improve their performance. The culture depicts the informal rule and these rules will be followed in the absence of superior. The outsourcing which refers to the performance of a function outside the organization by another company has profound effects on the culture of an organization. The strategy of outsourcing leads to changes in policies and cultural values. This culture is influenced by the HR policies and affects the HR polices as well. The performance of the firm is heavily influenced by the culture and image that an organization possesses. The interrelationships of these concepts are important in understanding the organizational management. It is important that managers should understand the complex web of cause and effects in order to effectively cater the need of running the organization in the best manner as possible and gain competitive advantage over competitors.

The culture is a phenomenon that has been observed, studied and felt by all of us; however, the definition of this culture is yet no single one. Different authors define it differently. However, all the researchers and academicians agree that these cultures have profound effect on the lives, beliefs, attitudes and behaviors of individuals. The behavior exhibited by individuals and groups largely determines the performance of an organization. Companies strive to maintain their culture in the organizations. Culture which is resistant to change can become a weakness for it. In today's dynamic environment, perhaps the culture is only sustainable competitive advantage that a firm can have.

Human resource practices of a firm relate to all the formal systems and practices that are concerned with staffing function that is, hiring, training, motivating, appraising, and firing of individuals to maintain and effective and efficient work force. These HRM practices are heavily influenced by the culture of an organization and influence the culture of an organization. It can act in a reactive or proactive manner.

Outsourcing is a major phenomenon that is widely adopted these days. Its impact on the culture and of an organization and the effect of human resource policies on the outsourcing function is important to assess. The success of firm depends on these issues. The culture of an organization also aids in developing the image of the firm. Image is created whether the firm desires or not. A good culture results in a good image which is desirable as it directly relates to its customers as well.
