Correlational Research

In this type of research is pursued primarily to determine the extent to which variations in one or more factors are concomitant with changes in one or more other factors. The existence and strength of this covariance is usually determined statistically by correlation coefficients. It should be noted that this covariation does not mean that relations exist between the values ??of causation, as these are determined by other criteria, as well as the covariance must be taken into account.

It is indicated in complex situations that relate variables matter, but where no experimental control is possible.

It allows measuring and interrelating multiple variables simultaneously in natural viewing situations, as in the examples given.

Allows to identify associations between variables, but you have to prevent them being spurious or false, introducing appropriate statistical controls.

Is less stringent than the type of experimental research because there is no possibility to manipulate the variable (or variables) independent (s) or monitoring requirements. Consequently, it leads directly to identify causal relationships, but suspicious.

Practical applications of the study in the workplace

In a group of employees, to determine the relationship between management practice, decisions, nutritional status, education and income level of employees as well as to identify the degree of satisfaction with the work or in connection with educational level, income, wages, work conditions and number of children.

Statistical Analysis

The selected variables for the correlation study in the workplace regarding the satisfaction level of the employees are the tenure with the company and satisfaction levels which are four survey measures, because the satisfaction level can be compared with the tenure of the employment which is relatively dependent on the satisfaction level. Correlation test has been performed with each level of satisfaction against the tenure with the company. Further detailed statistical outputs are provided in the appendix.
