Introduction

This reflective journal presents a reflective viewpoint on effective teaching strategies and how can teacher influence the learning abilities of a students in the class. I attended a computer science class to and focused on using key elements of effective teaching strategies. The class comprised of 40 students age between 12-13 years old. In that class, I as a teacher used many different approaches of teaching and build up students' interest in the subject. These approaches include mainly the teacher centered instruction, memorization, formal testing, quizzes, and a group work a play. Being the class teacher, I focused on the weak students and those students who could not grasp the concept of various sections of the social studies, irrespective of gender differences.

After observing a classroom practice, I realize that knowledge of factors associated with effective teaching is not enough. Teachers must be well trained and mentored. During the teaching session, I experienced that the challenges that affect the information processing capacity of learning disability individuals is driven by external factors impact on students.

While communicating with the students, I had to focus on multiple teaching and student's learning theories. The phenomenon of learning can be read from different discourses such as psychology, pedagogy, history of the child (Aylward, 2002). I observed that the students who were experiencing difficulties in learning had problems in processing the information received and the type of approach or solution used to derive meaning from information. Few students during the observation in classroom displayed characteristics of learning disability. They had limited information processing capacity in understanding the lecture delivered in class.
