Reflective Essay on Chronic Heart Failure

Introduction

This paper focuses on the chronic heart failure using a recognized reflective method of mine. My reflective manner about chronic disease has elements such as description, feelings, evaluation, analysis, and conclusion and action plan. I have made the readers realize about the importance of heart failure which is growing day by day and is of grace concern. The selective outcome from reflective accounts includes that heart failure is a major public health problem in the United Kingdom. Chronic heart failure is a progressive disorder. Therefore, patients who currently have a just a disguised form of chronic heart failure, in just a few years could go into the toughest group of patients difficult to treat. As for acute heart failure, it is terrible, but a rare form of the disease. Acute cardio vascular insufficiency manifested unexpected or sudden attacks of breathlessness, often at night, and requires urgent medical care. Acute heart failure is complicated by pulmonary edema or cardiac asthma.

Cardiac asthma in turn causes bouts of dyspnea and hemoptysis caused by acute heart failure. There are five million patients in this country who are suffering from heart failure, and about 500 000 patients diagnosed with heart failure for the first time each year. (Gibbs., Addington, 1998). Patients with chronic heart failure (heart failure) are at risk of thromboembolic events, such as stroke, pulmonary embolism and peripheral arterial embolism; contribute to the progression of heart failure.

I have experienced an event which made me realize and think about to search the information about the heart diseases. I wanted to know and collect information in which a heart failure can be prevented and take some measures in order to avoid haphazard situations in the same regard. Once I took my father to hospital, he was suffered from an angina pain. I rushed him to hospital the one nearest to my home. The hospital was happened to be the heart related hospital. This health care unit has core function to deal in health diseases. I come to know the severity of this disease very first time in my life. I experienced the critical cases of patients over there. I saw patients and their relatives in the very bad situations. Patients were shouting and getting very uncomfortable in the hospitals in the pain. Pain has to be very severe in heart disease. Because as I saw my father was in critical condition he was also in severe pain. I had to maintain my nerves in control in order to see him and look after him. I controlled my expressions and overcome on my feelings to cater the situations around me at hospital. Eventually after 1 week of admitting in hospital and taking the proper treatment at hospital, my father is now well and in the best of his health.
