Morality and good life

Many people are concerned with what makes good life. This question is very ambiguous and varies from person to person. Individuals who are searching for job or searching for wealth, according to them its money which makes life good. Others who have enough wealth but they are so busy that they cannot enjoy their lives and the concept of good life is different for them. We live in capitalistic society and we are materialistic. We believe that if material needs like comfortable housing, handsome earnings and food etc are fulfilled according to desires then this will make life good. But still we observe people who don't have enough money to satisfy basic need, they spend a good life. Happiness and good life is achieved when our mind is satisfied. This satisfaction is resulted from doing ethical norms and avoiding immoral activities. So good life comes from following moral norms and values. We are told not to lie, not to hurt anyone, not to violate the laws and so on. This all principles are embedded in morality. Morality is the set of rules and principles that guides our actions. Revealed books also supported the injunctions of morality and Ten Commandments from the Old Testament teach mankind to follow the moral values. Morality is typically deduced from holy injunctions and the basic structure of society and social norms is based on these holy injunctions.

Every society demands from its individuals to follow general set of rules and hence the scope of morality varies from society to society.
