Reduction in Nosocomial Infections through Proper Hand Washing

Abstract

The purpose of this project is not only to improve the awareness regarding hospital acquired diseases but also to develop the procedures and curriculums to decrease the associated risks. These proposed programs must have a potential to decline the rate of such Nosocomial infections. In this regard, the concentration of as well as the efforts made by the governing bodies along with the health care sectors will be very helpful. Besides, the individual role of the health care professionals such as nurses is beneficial in reducing the prevalence of the Nosocomial infections. The proposed solution for the reduction of the Nosocomial infections is through use of appropriate hand washing techniques. The significance of hand washing and its implementation is highly recommended for the stated route of infections (Borges et al, 2012). Thus, the primary objective is to make the population and the health care providers aware about this proposed solution and to facilitate the safe health care services to each patient and all health care providers.

Section A: Problem Identification

Problem of Nosocomial Infections in Hospital Setting

One of the major problems, allied to any hospital setting, is the higher rates of Nosocomial infections in patients. According to Mermel (2010); about 2 million individuals, in United States of America, got the hospital acquired diseases per year. Moreover, hundred thousand deaths occur out of two million people annually. One of the research studies revealed that approximately seventy thousand of the deaths are just because of the accidental errors inclusive of which are the Nosocomial infections (KJevens & Edwards, 2007).
