This research aims to discuss the recycling policy of universities. The concerns of recycling have become quite important all over the world. The contributions of different organisations towards the recycling of waste cannot be ignored. There are different institutions that are participating in recycling efforts. Their purpose is to promote the greenery of the environment.
Educational institutions have also played a vital role in the recycling of waste. There are different universities across the United Kingdom that has devised effective recycling policies. These policies encourage students to throw waste into recycle bins instead of waste bins. In addition, students are also advised to throw different kinds of garbage in different bins.
Recycling is the practice in which the waste materials are being collected and transformed into new products. This process is helpful in protecting the non renewable natural resources as it helps in preventing the waste of those materials which are useful. It is the process that consists of technique which helps producing new materials from the wastes and used material (Strange & Bayley, 2008, pp. 30). The purpose of recycling is to reduce the potential environmental pollution and save the non renewable materials. There are many different reasons and advantages of recycling old materials to turn into new, similar products some of them are following: According to the research following are the types of recycling
The recycling of plastics
The source reduction refers directly to the design and production phase of products, mainly container, before being consumed (Tchobanoglous et al, 2003, pp. 60). It is a way of conceiving new products with environmental criteria, generating less waste. And this applies to all raw materials: glass, paper, cardboard, aluminum and plastics(Wilcox, 2008, pp. 45). In the case of the latter waste, source reduction is the responsibility of the petrochemical industry (manufacturer of different types of plastics), processing industry (which takes these plastics to manufacture different end products), and designs packaging (packager) ( Schäfer, 2009, pp. 33). Reduce at the source means to refer to the research, development and production of objects using fewer resources (raw material). Minimize the volume and weight of waste is the first step to solve the global problem. The main advantages of source reduction are decreasing the amount of waste, it helps that landfills are not saturated quickly; it saves natural resources, energy and raw materials, and financial resources ( Wagner, 2009, pp. 30). The source reduction reduces pollution and greenhouse gases. It requires less energy to transport lighter materials. Less energy means less fuel burned, which in turn means less aggression to the environment.
Glass Recycling
Glass is a material which by its nature is easily retrievable, especially the glass container it is 100% ...
