There are many benefits of social media for the businesses as it results in generating exposure for business. The businesses use social media for gathering the marketplace intelligence. The marketers of business who have been using the social media for more than two years have seen a rise in the search engine rankings along with reducing the marketing business for the companies (Dyer, 2013). However, there are disadvantages of using social media. The incorrect and inefficient use of social media can result in disasters for the companies (Sniderman, 2011).

Furthermore, there are also some successful cases of companies which were able to turn the bad situations of social media in something beneficial. There are many stories regarding the prevention of slip-ups. These slip-ups are inevitable mainly in the fast pacing world of social media.
