The reconstruction period lead to several turning points in the history if united states and affected the people in much more negatively way. The two of the significant turning points under the reconstruction period are discussed. The upsurge of the civil rights movement after the civil war occurred during the time period of reconstruction.

The turning point brought about by the civil rights movement tends to change the economy of the world and the concept of geopolitics. It impacted the economy of the United States much more severely. The social conditions that were affected by the upsurge of the civil rights movements include the discrimination of the black people of America. It leads towards the mass migration of the black discriminated people from the southern parts to the urban societies of north and south. The most dramatic turning point occurred when the administration of the time of reconstruction in America passed specific legislations that lead to the change in the behavior and patterns of the slavery and labor. The restrictions refer to as the black codes resulted in the outrage in the northern parts of United States due to the presence of African American black people (Stroud & Schomp, 2006).

The societal change brought about the reconstruction era includes the transformations in the society and the rights of the black people. In the current society we can see that the black people are allowed to marry legally and they have a freedom to worship according to their own beliefs. They can form private clubs, they can patronize public accommodations for example visiting restaurants, railroads and theaters according to the discounted prices available for the people and they can receive education on the expense of the public provided by the government.

The economical effects of the reconstruction period can be seen with the increasing industrialization in the United States after the civil war period that impacted the physical, political and economic setup of the country.
