Recess can be described as a break during school hours where children stop whatever they are up to and go outdoors for a short span of time. The time period of a recess is generally between 15 to 30 minutes where children have the liberty to play games they like, with who they play and where they play. Recess is a time where children can relax, play or talk with friends and do quite a lot of activities depending on their mood and liking. At the end of the recess, children get back to their routine and continue activities at school. A break of 15 minutes or more during the school day may play a role in improving learning, social development and health of children in primary schools. Recess is a space which Serves to make assessments in context because it allows the teacher to analyze how children socialize in a natural way without being in the presence of teachers. Despite the fact that recess provides children with ample time to relax their minds and de stress, it has been found that children have less free time now at schools. Schools are shortening the recess time and are focusing more on studies rather than letting the children have a little time off from studies so that they can do whatever they like. This turns out to be a concern and measures should be taken, so that recess can be made mandatory for Pre-school and elementary students.
