Introduction

Rape is when someone uses force or threat to carry out a sexual intercourse or similar sexual act. This can be done in many different ways. Someone may hold another person and forces apart the legs. It may also be the victims of abuse feel threatened and give in, but the perpetrator needs to use violence. It can also happen through anal sex, oral sex, or by any of the objects or fingers into the vagina or anus. To have sexual intercourse with a person who is in helpless condition is also counted as rape. It may be, for example if you are drunk, drugged, or have a disability or illness that makes one unable to say no or resist and defend their selves. Although sexual intercourse or other serious sexually abusive acts against children under 15 years is defined as rape - regardless of whether the perpetrator has used violence and threats.
