Racially Segregated Schools

Since this is the topic on racially segregated schools, so all those countries where the problem of racial discrimination has been very high will be covered in this topic. During 1976, the violent activities, boycotting of colleges, universities and the demand for suitable conditions by black students became very common in many parts of Africa. The main reasons for these steps were the inequalities of education in the racially segregated schools in the country. This situation resulted from variety of factors that included the lack of qualification among the teachers, improper facilities and many other things that caused lot of anger and frustration among the black children. The subsidies provided by the state to these institutes was even very less for these schools. All these factors have hindered the chances of students getting a higher education in their respective countries. (Massey, 25)

The concept of segregation basically refers to the isolation of people. The racial segregation that has taken place in Africa and USA are purely on the basis of isolating black people from the whites. This is the reason why there were separate schools and colleges for the black people and were not even very good which affected their education a lot. Schools, colleges and universities for the black students are in very poor condition due to lack of money needed for their improvement. Teachers are not very qualified, the proper food, water and sanitation facility is even not there and the classes are even in horrible condition where the students need to study their subjects. The condition is similar in colleges and universities. There is not even a proper library and the facilities which can provide knowledge to the students. According to the statistics published in the last five years, only 20% of the black population has been able to acquire higher education. (Hooks, 293)

In Africa, the condition of the black students is not favorable. They are considered as the most segregated minority in these countries. In USA, the overall condition of the black American has started to improve in all fields of life that includes education as well but lot of work needs to be done in Africa.
