Racial Equality

Introduction

The African-American historical arc is the part of the rich American history that deals with the Black-American or African-American racial group of people residing in the United Sates of America. This racial group is composed mainly of immigrants from West or Central Africa, whose ancestor were brought to the United States under the banner of slavery by their white masters.

This group were referred to and collectively self-identified as American Negros in the past, but are now now generally considered as African Americans. Afro-American history is recognized the United States in February, which has been assigned as Black History Month this historically active group is the prime focus of this text.

Discussion

African-American history is filled with the stories of inspiring individuals, many of them who had to overcome great obstacles to be where they are or were. They include people such as George Washington Carver; activists like Martin Luther King Jr. and Rosa Parks; athletes such as Willie Mays and Michael Jordan; and entertainers like Bessie Smith and Oprah Winfrey. Their names and their stories, have become are part of the rich legacy that is African-American culture.

All was not high and blue in the beginning. The black community was denied any sort of equality in social, cultural or political aspects. The basic rights of the community were not recognized or acknowledged as such they were not treated with respect. They had been brought to America as slaves and that is how they were kept and released like a rabid dog. Black community was not even recognized as citizens of America. They were denied the basic right to education healthcare and employment. Their white masters subjected them to a lot of hardships, labor and cruelty. In short, they were completely dominated and treated as mere animals sold in to slavery ...
