Question: 1 what were the major concerns of the environmentalist movement?

The environmental movement (sometimes called green or environmental movement) is a diverse political movement, social and global defending protection environment. The environmentalist movement is a wide variety of individual and group initiatives focused on protecting natural resources and the need to counter the imbalance caused by technology and the rise of the metropolis (Shabecoff, 2003).

Typically, environmentalism is defended the anthropocentric positions, i.e., to meet human needs, including health and social needs. In those terms, environmentalists make a social critique more or less implicitly, suggesting the need for legal reforms and social awareness in both government and in business and social groups. The environmental movement is attached with a commitment to maintain the health of the human being in balance with natural ecosystems, humanity that is considered as a part of nature and nothing is separate from it.

The existence of environmental organizations is closely linked to the development of democratic systems and the advancement of civil liberties. The movement is represented by a wide and diverse range of organizations, from the international to the local level. Some have previous history and have significant international infrastructure, although most local organizations are more or less spontaneous (Shabecoff, 2003).

It is related to political ecology. It is understood that environmentalism is a position that postulates significant modifications that are necessary in the environmental policies of all states of the world. There are those who propose a radical change in the state systems and negate the need for more development in the conventional sense or capitalist, while others only propose a change in environmental policy, and profound changes in the means of social relations and production environment (Shabecoff, 2003).
