The questionnaire designed below is about the Performance Management System in Law firms and you are invited to take part in this research project. The research is being conducted as part of my dissertation for a Masters degree in Human Resource Strategy. Before deciding whether you would be willing to take part, it is important for you to understand why the research is being done and what it will involve. Aim of the Study

In the past few years, many law firms are becoming frustrated at their inability to achieve a consensus and to make decisions on matters of firm policy, strategy, marketing, management, and performance management. This study is aimed at evaluating the perceptions, attitudes and experiences of the performance management system, paying particular attention to the appraisal process, from the perspectives of HR professionals within the top 20 Law Firms in London. Performance has become an essential feature in every organization, regardless of the industry. Performance and performance management continue to be enigmatic concepts. Performance management lacks a coherent treatment that explicates its significance, analyses its several dimensions as a working system and challenges its shortcomings. The purpose of this research is to seek an understanding of performance and performance management as concepts as they are applied in practice and in relationship to organizational management. Performance management has to be located within a broader construction of organizational life, which recognizes that performance management cannot be considered in isolation from other factors that make up organizational management. In implement performance management system, it is essential to understand the performance management and to understand the significance of PMS. The planning process of performance management is a closed loop that synchronizes the generation of models, measurement, adaptation, and then the generation of models tailors to the results. Although the concept seems simple, its effective implementation can be more complex and difficult.

Our study is grounded in the performance management system that recognizes rationality and trust as two fundamental dimensions of organizational life. The performance focus not only has an impact on the key management functions and components (HRM, finance, strategy, etc.) but also changes the nature of policy and management in the organization. Using the findings as a benchmark, the results will be compared and analyzed following a review of performance appraisal process.

Confidentiality

Any information will not be disclosed to anyone and it will be kept anonymous, and the firm name will not be mentioned in the analysis. In addition to that, the findings will form part of a dissertation, but may also be used for teaching and research training.
