Public Administration

Introduction

Public administration is defined as the providing leadership to the public in order to look after their affairs which may have direct responsibility for executive order. In a democratic state, it is concerned with executive order and leadership to provide contribution to the worth, dignity and potentials of the citizens of that state. Public administration as stated by many scholars has no specific definition. The reason is because it is such a diverse and broad area, therefore it is debatable as well. Public administration is a field of academic study as well as a practice. However, there is a difference of opinion as to whether the public administration is a branch of political sciences or administrative sciences.

Public administration is the key instrument of a democratic state structure, as the aim of having a democratic system in place is to provide good governance to the public. Good governance can only be provided if an efficient system of public administration is in place. Therefore, in order for the public administration to be completely transparent and effective, it is essential that it is apolitical. The entire focus of the public administration should be to facilitate the citizens of the state in the optimum possible manner. The service should be provided regardless of what political administration is at the helm.

Discussion

Charles Linbolm is a popular political scientist, and used to be the director of Yale University's Social and Policy Studies Institution. He is also a strong advocate of the Incrementalism theory in the context of decision-making and policy-making.
