PTSD (PostTraumatic Stress Disorder) is an illness, which is usually classified as an anxiety disorder and it is considered to develop terribly frightening, or highly unsafe experience. This paper studies the fact that how PTSD can affect human lives, what are the major factors of PTSD, reasons due to which PTSD exist among human beings, risks associated with PTSD, prevention that can reduce the likelihood of PTSD, some important tests are conducted for the purpose of critically analyzing PTSD and issues related to it. In addition to that, the study is aimed at providing the reader and parents proper knowledge about the effectiveness of measures that can be taken while PTSD suffering. Also, the proper use of measures and relevant techniques are also discussed in this paper.

Why do people suffer from PTSD

Introduction

Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) was introduced under the mental health nomenclature in the year 1980 along with the manual of APA's (American Psychiatric Association's) statistics and diagnostics. Symptoms that occur in response to a particular stressor, however, has existed for centuries and has been referred to by terms such as nervetrauma hypothesis, shell shock, and stress response syndrome. An individual suffering from PTSD must is exposed to a traumatic event, including but not necessarily restricted to combat, that is outside the realm of ordinary experience to meet the criteria for PTSD. Consequently, PTSD and the recently included diagnosis of acute stress disorder are distinctive in the DSM system because, unlike the majority of DSM diagnoses, the causal origin of these disorders is explicitly delineated in the diagnostic criteria.

The trauma criteria now specify that the affected person has to experience, witness, or be confronted with events, which may include one or more of the situations such as injury, actual or threatened death, and/or threat to the physical integrity of oneself or of others. Further, the person may also experience fear of anything. Helplessness, and/or horror that may relate to the traumatic event or events.

Hypothesis

H0: People who suffer traumatic events in both short and long term suffer with post traumatic stress disorder.

Methods

The approach used for this research would be qualitative, it is evident that the strategy used will be inductive as existing theories with regards to concepts and phenomenon will be discussed in the form of words and meaning and it will be derived out of this process via these means. The research will also use a case study strategy and will involve the collection of secondary data. Secondary data would be collected from books, journals and quality websites. The data will be collected from Literature reviews i.e. the reviews of research papers, industry publication and journals. The primary data is conducted and it is collected through semi-structured interviews. One of the major advantages of using the qualitative approach is that ...
