Attitudes towards psychotherapy to build segments in Mexico
Introduction
Health care has been confronting positive developments in the recent decade. The communication gap between the clinical practitioners and patients has been bridged well. New technology has emerged in the frontline that plays a significant role in facilitating to provide quality health care services to patients. A lot of improved and enhanced interventions have been introduced for mental illness in patients. But even with such vast and drastic developments in the field, these interventions are not easily accepted. There are areas that still need to be worked at to improve the quality of services provided through better understanding and practice. Such is the case of Mexican mental health that needs to be improved to overcome the issues it is facing today despite of Psychological interventions to treat illness and diseases related to mental health has grasped quiet some attention. Much improvement has been made to develop interventions that are strong enough to treat mental illness. According to Kazdin and Blase (2011), the main focus of these interventions is to overcome the issues related to mental illness. It is stated that psychotherapy faces to major constraints; one is the less awareness of psychotherapy and the other is related to adverse attitude towards it.
Discussion
The concern and care of people suffering through mental and brain disorder has become an increasing concern in the past recent decade. These disorders have widespread and exerts an emotional toll on the individuals suffering from it along with their concerned people. The mental disorders are highly disabling. According to Kohn (2008), the psychiatric and neurological settings confronted up to 13% of the universal disease load in the year 2001. Kohn (2008) stresses that to bridge the gap between the prevalence of mental disorders and treatment provided to patients suffering needs to be bridged.
Mexico is the largest country that has its immigrants in US alone. Mexico stands amongst the poorest population segment in the world. They are deprived of food, proper education and health which are the basic necessity of people living in the country. Only 15 percent of Mexicans in US has been succeeded to achieve US citizenship. Most if the immigrants in US are living illegally in the country. Currently Mexico has over 120 million inhabitants.
Mental health of Mexicans
Mexico stands as a poorest country that has underdeveloped infrastructure. The impact of poor education, health and financial assets has an adverse impact on the psychological behaviour of the citizens. Being the poor country amongst the other it confronts poor developments in mental health and illness which is why confronts issues related to psychotherapy.
As per inferences made by Borges et.al (2008) in Mexico only minority of people suffering from mental disorders and disabilities receives treatment.
