Absolutism

Absolutism is defined as the smallest detectable level of a stimulus. It is widely used in neuroscience and experimental research. An example of absolutism is most commonly found in the hearing, vision and smell. In an experiment of sound detections, the researchers can change sound with varying levels of volume.

Functionalism

Functionalism is the evolutionary theory of psychology. It represents the mental processes in more orderly, accurate and systematic manner. In psychology, the functionalism focuses on the consciousness and behavior. The strengths of functionalism are that it enhances the behavior and applied psychology (APA, 2011).

American Psychological Association

American Psychological Association (APA) is the scientific and professional organizations in the United States which represents the psychology. The APA strives to encourage the development and application of psychology in the broad manner through promoting the research in the psychology, so that people must adopt it as a profession and as a means of promoting the health, welfare and education.

Hypnosis

According of the APA, the hypnosis is the process in which the participants responds to the questions of the hypnotist. This technique is beneficial for reducing the pain and anxiety. Therefore, it reduces the symptoms of dementia. Clinically this technique provides the medical and therapeutic benefits.

Mesmerism

Mesmerism is the process in which the hypnosis is inducted through the animal magnetism. It is widely used with the hypnosis.

Phrenology

It is the study of the shape of the human skull in order to explore the person's character and intelligence. It is the form of anthropometry. The phrenology determines the human behavioral characteristics through determining the bumps of their heads (APA, 2011).

Lobotomy

It is the technique used to reduce the violent behavior of a person. This mental technique involves the destruction of the human brain tissues to change the behavior and emotions. In this technique, the frontal lobe of the brain is removed.

Acta Psychologica Sinica

It is the scholarly journal of Chinese Psychological Society and Institute of Psychology, Chinese Academy of Sciences in collaboration with the Department of Psychology. It covers the empirical studies of experimental psychology, medical psychology, social and educational psychology.

Behaviorist Doctrine

It is the phenomena in which the human and animals can be studied through the observable and quantifiable behavioral events. This doctrine proves that our responses and stimuli shapes our behaviors (APA, 2011).

The British scientist named Sir Francis Galton introduced the concept of intelligence in the nineteenth century. Hereditary Genius, to be the first scientific investigation towards the concept of human intelligence.

Taoism

Taoism is related to the various Chinese philosophical and religious traditions and concepts. The Taoism is associated with the Three Jewels of the Tao, namely, love, humility and moderation. The Taoists believe that the in the universe there are an unseen and universal designs which are beyond the understanding of the human mind.
