The Impact of Forgiveness Therapy on Depression, Posttraumatic Stress, and Anxiety for Women after Spousal Emotional Abuse

Summary

Those women who are emotionally abused mostly experience the psychological adverse effects long after the end of spousal relationship. This study consists of Forgiveness therapy (FT) with the alternative for those women who are emotionally abused, as are separated for 2 or more than two years. Participants in FT experienced significantly greater improvement than participants in the depression, anxiety, post traumatic stress symptoms, self-esteem, forgiveness, environmental mastery, and find meaning in suffering, the income is maintained at follow-up (M 8,35 months, SD 1,53) (Reed, 2006). FT has implications for long-term recovery post relationship emotionally abused women.

Interaction

One of the first tasks of the workers for forgiveness with clients to help them understand what forgiveness means forgiveness comes with many misconceptions, some of which can be very destructive to clients in hazardous and destructive relationships. For example, many people think that forgiveness necessarily involves coordination with the offending person (Reed, 2006). Understood in this way, encouraging people "to forgive" insecure, and potentially dangerous people.

Application
