Case Study of Ross

The Psychodynamics perspective is put forward by Sigmund Freud which emphasise on the conscious and unconscious behind people's actions (Farrell, 1985, 567-575). It talks about the forces that drive certain human behaviours. He described psychodynamics as that transmits psychological energy from a brain that is organically very complex. The case study of Ross, who is obsessed with his pets and needs more also, refers to the forces that are hidden in his unconscious mind and are the driving force for his behaviour. According to Freud every behaviour or actions has some reason that often lie in their subconscious. In the case of Ross it might be possible that he needs company which his family or friends unable to provide him and pets fill this space for him (Freud, 1984). When he believes that pets are the most important thing in life, he may thinks that only pets can be friends and a better company to other people. Freud says that mind always remain in constant struggle while balancing it's conscious and unconscious (Freud, 1984). Ross might have such problem that he cannot understand the standing of pets in other people's lives. Psychodynamic therapies depend purely on inner conflicts of the mind and the repressed behaviours come to the surface with the emotions and they are usually at conflict with each other (Farrell, 1985, 567-575).

In terms of behaviourist, psychology is purely objective branch of natural science. Its theoretical goal is the prediction of the behaviour and control of them. The behaviour of man, with all its perfections and complexity of forms only a part of the study design. Psychology with a behaviourist point of view is purely objective, experimental science, which needs introspection as little as the sciences of chemistry and physics (Sammons, n.d. pp. 1-2). The position adopted by us, is that human behaviour and animal behaviour should be considered in the same plane, and as equally important for the overall understanding of the behaviour. Here, when the case of Ross is considered, his behaviour can be observed through his actions he carries out in his daily routine. On the other hand, this perspective also put animal's and human's behaviour on the same plane that is why it can be said that Ross feels compatible and comfortable with his pets.

The proposed abandonment of states of consciousness as an independent object of study eliminates the barriers that exist between psychology and other sciences. These psychologies become functional correlates of structure and reduce themselves to an explanation in psycho-chemical terms. Psychology as a science of behaviour wanted in the end; we neglect some of the really existing problems dealt introspective psychology as a science (Watson, 1930). In all likelihood, even these remaining problems can be formulated in such a way that improved methods of behaviour (along with those that have yet to be opened) will lead to their decision.
