The research study explores the concept of prototyping in Ducati Motorcycles as a holistic context.
The focus of the research is on “Prototyping in Ducati Motorcycles” and its relation with the “performance prototyping”. The research also analyzes aspects of “Prototyping in Ducati Motorcycles” including automatic generation, deployment of small components and emulating the intended behaviour of real components under design into the real IT-infrastructure and environment. Instead of the “build first - upgrade later” approach, prototyping will be analyzed in a more coordinated manner that reduces cycles.
We then discuss the method of integrating prototyping in to the commercial UML-tools.

Prototyping Ducati Motorcycles
Introduction
Japanese motorcycles have conquered the world and found the highest level of development of this technology - And this truth is well known and needs no evidence. In 1926, the brothers Adriano and Marcello Ducati founded in the Italian city of Bologna company to produce various radio engineering. In addition, the fascists in Italy has set for the transformation of an agrarian to an industrial country, which meant that after the "light bulb Mussolini" in thousands of Italian villages came and radios immortal speech of the Leader. (Petriu, 1999)
It has over 1,000 fine employees working with utmost dedication. Almost 200 of the employees are focused to research and development processes. Ducati invests about 12.0 million Euros each year in research and development. Ducati, operating in an elite market, manufactures products where high-tech content is combined with high performances. (Mirandola, 2000)
The design activities of all departments are interlinked. Apart from that, Ducati has actively pursued the goal of integrating production with the design process. This is essential to reduce the overall cycle time as about 95 percent of production takes place externally.
It is obvious that larger IT systems or products have complex interaction between the different hardware, which comprises of peripherals and network links; middleware, which makes up the different layers of operating systems and server processes; and behavioral software components that implement the business logic of the system. (Dimitrov, 2002)
Today, engine-cycle simulation has become a vital tool for engine performance optimization. Thus, Ducati Motors applies simulation tool in order to optimize engine performance and shorten prototyping time. (Hennig, 2002)
Problem Statement
“Performance issues can be minimized by the employing simulation model in performance prototyping”
Performance prototyping enables the designer of systems and their infrastructure to assess the impact of various load scenarios, design choices and configuration alternatives very early in the project, and thus allows synchronizing infrastructure planning and system development closely.
A role of a “performance engineer” is immensely vital in large and performance-critical systems. The “performance engineer” should be responsible for gathering and predicting performance scores.
Apart from that, the performance engineer should also act as a coordinator between the hardware and the middleware ...
