There are good reasons from which the real-time location-based services can be used in the market. One of the good reasons is that the smart-phones with satellite-positioning technology are easily and widely available. This technology is also easily used by people to broadcast their locations. Users are getting familiar with the location-based services such as downloadable application, also known as “apps”. These downloads are easy to use and are widely used by the users. These phones encourage the users to experiment with the new and latest services. Millions of users have gotten comfortable with the smart-phones to use and share their locations and their information. The mobile applications also have an access to the social networks such as Facebook and Twitter. This has paved the way for the real-time location-based services. The companies often take support from the gaming companies to attract and encourage people so that they use their services. These are marketing techniques to attract more users to use apps. Foursquare and Gowalla encourage their users to check in at various locations in the city and also attract them by giving them free coffee or pizza and digital souvenirs respectively (Pelau & Zegreanu, 2010).

Google also have allowed Buzz which is a social-networking service. This service has allowed the users to tag their friends in the information they are posting about their locations.
