Introduction

Strategy development of a health care organization provides a long term road map to that organization and it is extremely important in today's economic uncertain situations. Effective strategic plan and its management is considered as the backbone of an organization since it creates and executes tactics for effective future, coordinate and allocate resources and prioritize goals (Backoff, 1993). A still strategic plan seems to be grossly underutilized specifically in health care industry. The changes imposed on the health system, along with economic globalization, offer opportunity those highly qualified to assume the management of the resources allocated to the healthcare sector. Strategic management is considered as a forceful task that has to be done. However various executives frequently consign essential resources to the management process. Actually research has identified that organizations spends $3.1 million on average where 3000 employees works just to produce strategic plan with modest return and in the U.S., the healthcare system is very different from the system of many European countries. The United States of America is the owner of the most expensive health care system in the world. Unlike other developed countries, the United States has a system of universal coverage.

Statement of Purpose

The aim of this strategic management plan is to create a strategy for physician practice organization. This will outline the direction for effective and comprehensive development of the organization. The aim of the organization is to coordinate common efforts among potential and existing services. The purpose of writing this paper is to study the importance of paying attention to management process carried out for effective organizational development. This plan is going to emphasize to focus on strategic direction of physician practice organization, focusing on strategic management will allow us attain departmental and ultimately organizational goals. Last but not the least it will provide us measures to tract organizational performance.

This paper is an update of previous strategic plan of Physician Practice organization. It is important to update previous strategic plan of the organization because of the changes in the external and internal environment of the organization. It may include budgetary shortfalls implementation of certain Law, the economic recession, and workforce constrains. All of these factors have impact on resource and departmental focus (Alexander, 2000). Updating the previous plan of the Physician practice plan will allow us to address the challenges and issues of changing conditions and help in identifying ways to improve and provide effective services to patients with available resources. Updating strategic Management plan assures the plan still help organizational management in reinforcing accountability, maintaining focus and allocating resources, making our mission and vision more clear, and clearly outlining initiatives, goals, and strategies.

Physicians Practice Organization Inc is in Columbus this company currently has approximately 15 to 20 employees and annual sales of under $500,000. PPO is continually seeking new ways to improve efficiency and quality of care for its practices.
