Project Performance and Analysis

Introduction

The customers of the construction companies are mainly concerned with the cost, time and quality of the project, but it is a fact that most of the construction projects are acquired by the clients on the basis of cost and time only (Callahan & Butler, 2005, p. 26). This is justifiable because most of the control systems related to project management emphasizes on the cost and time of the project and they do not give importance to the quality of the project. The past researchers have argued that the main failures in traditional approaches for the delivery of the project is due to the comprehensive delays in the planning schedules, issues in the quality, cost overruns, increased number of claims and litigation linked with the construction projects.

For planning and managing a project that is successful, it is necessary that all the three parameters quality, cost and time should be considered by the project manager (Chinyio & Olomolaiye, 2009, p. 165). The past studies have pointed out that the objectives of the customers can only be met if all these three factors are considered as these factors are similar to a triangle and if project manager neglect one factor, then it will affect the other two factors as well. Some scholars have pointed out that it is important that the behavior of the management should be studied in order to understand issues faced by the construction industry in the recent years because these issue are because of the human factor involved in different projects of construction and they need to be addressed for improving quality, time and cost of the project (Christensen, 1998, p. 374).

The purpose of this research is to evaluate the ways in which objectives of the clients related to time, cost and quality can be enhanced. Moreover, this research will also attempt to find out the approach in which value can be added to a project and in which way a proactive approach is developed to meet responsibilities and extending the scope of contributions for enhancing the outcomes of the project. For this purpose, a construction company is selected which will start a building project for making a college and aims to complete this project in 6 months. At the end of this project, different recommendation will be presented through which construction industry will be able to improve the predictability of cost, time and quality.
