Project

A project is a targeted , one-time project , which consists of a set of coordinated, and controlled activities with start and finish dates and carried out to the light of constraints in terms of time and resources (such as money or costs, production and working conditions, staff), a goal to achieve. Whereas, on the other hand an activity is the set of actions carried out to achieve the goals of a program or subprogram of operation, which is the execution of certain processes or tasks (through the use of human, material, technical, and financial resources allocated to the activity with a set cost), which is in charge of an administrative entity of intermediate or low. Is a program category whose production is intermediate, and thus is provided one or more end products? The activity is the minimum level of budgetary action and indivisible to the purposes of the formal assignment of resources (Berkun, 2005, pp.23-34).

Project management

The term Project Management refers to the planning, controlling and monitoring of projects. Project management is a management which is characterized by:

The irreversibility of the operations of the participants,

A high degree of freedom of the actions of participants,

An organization dedicated to be scalable and temporary

The cash flow of investment can be negative

A strong influence of variables exogenous to the project

Project management today can no longer be limited to operational aspects, especially with regard to the projects. It is now to prepare well in advance to be sure to choose and make "good projects"; it could simply be defined as a prerequisite for success. The tertiary sector includes several types of projects (software development, maintenance, evolution major and minor) arising continuously among CIO's (Gido et.al, 1999, pp.11-21).

Many organizations recently have moved towards a greater use of project management practices and methods because of the vast amount of benefits that it brings along with it. Following are some of the reasons stated below due to which many organizations have moved towards a much greater use of project management.

Enables quick response to changing demands, and provides the ability to adapt to change and manage the change. The reasons why the Project Management can respond quickly follow

Maximize the ability of the organization: Get more for less cost. Project management identifies all functional responsibilities towards fulfilling the mission of the company, ensuring that all members of the organization are aware of their responsibility. It also identifies potential improvements in processes, providing time and cost savings

Coordinates the various internal and external resources, in many cases, the same supplier have contact with different areas of the company and do not exploit the synergies that this can provide

Provides an overview and improves communication within the company. Allows transfer knowledge between departments that otherwise would act sealed. Manages budgets and costs throughout the organization, and allows the organization to set priorities within the various pending actions
