Project

A project is a transitory venture undertaken to produce an innovative product or service. Projects are carried out all levels of the organization. Projects can either include an individual or a group of people. Moreover, project can be stretched from days to a few years for completion. Projects are usually carried out to achieve or enhance the organizations growth. Projects can be of the following types,

1. Producing latest product or service.

2. Altering organizational structure, employee or style of an organization.

3. Updating the information system.

4. Introducing new business techniques or methods.

Projects require resources, a plan and efficient management skills in order to be successful (Choudhri, 2012).

Project Manager

The project manager is the individual that is selected the project board of the organization. The project manager is mainly responsible for the successful implementation of the project. The basic responsibilities of a project manager include,

1. Achieve the project objectives in the given period of time, maintaining quality and cost management,

2. Provide precise and proper details of the aims and objectives of the project to its team

3. Align and encourage people to by words and actions to accomplish the goal and overcome all challenges faced in the way

4. Should establish a cordial relationship with the customer or project sponsor for any shortcomings regarding the aims and objectives of the project

5. Formulate a plan of action according to which the project is supposed to be executed

6. Create a team with specifications and expertise in required areas for assisting in project implementation

7. Communicate challenges, modifications, success to the heads of the organization and the team members.

8. Negotiating for aims and objectives, costs, resources, terms and conditions.

9. Managing all issues faced during the project. These issues can be internal, external, technical, managerial or interpersonal. 10. Monitor the progress of the project, and to ensure all work is going according to plan (Munns, Bjeirmi, 1996).

1. Initiation

In this stage, the aims and objectives of the project are formulated from the very basic level to a proper detailed plan which will assist in the progress of the project. It is also essential for the project manager and the project sponsor to agree on the terms and conditions of the project.
