Introduction

This paper demonstrates the analysis of the video depicting possible legal and ethical issues working in the health care. There is a great importance of the patient centred care and inter-professional role in different aspects of the social and health care. The delivery of inter-professional and patient centred care is useful for the proper binding of the multi-disciplinary team in a combined manner. According to the British Journal of Nursing, it is necessary for the health care professionals to go for the option of adopting the patient centred approach. The statutory bodies like nurses bound the health care professionals to follow the guidelines which are developed by the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC). At the same time it is necessary for the physiotherapists to follow the chartered society of physiotherapy (CSP).

Discussion

The video is about a physiotherapist, Jane Meadow, who could not handle a patient effectively because of work load and pressurized work environment. Lyn Radisson, NHS senior officer was taking this case seriously and enforcing to removing her name from the register, which is not right ethically and legally. It is not a good decision to terminate someone on first mistake. Jane could not handle the work load as she was unable to justify her personal and professional life conflicts that were bothering her mentally.

Two issues that are mentioned in the video are unequal distribution of task amongst employees and lack of employee retention policy in the organization. Organization was having a authoritative environment that was not motivating for employees to work in. They become the reasons for Jane to commit mistake that were handled harshly by the organization. NHS senior officer was taking hard action on Jane, where this can be handled by giving warning to her.

Legal and Ethical Role

The organization must ensure the working environment for employees that must be suitable for employees to work in satisfactory. An organization need to handle cases like Lynn effectively that do not lead to humiliation for an employee. Such ignorance for the organization can lead to aforementioned cases. It is also necessary for the accountable practitioners that they should work in a responsible manner so that the effective delivery of care could be assured. In order to go for the effective delivery of care it is essential that the accountable practitioners should follow the ethical and legal responsibilities. As mentioned above, there are various legal obligations and defined standards which are necessary to be followed by the nurses, physiotherapists and other health care practitioners. Therefore, it is evident that the health care practitioners should act in an ethical manner and should not get involved in any unethical behaviour so that the effective delivery of care could be assured. Thus, it is evident that by following the ethical and legal obligations, the nurses and other accountable practitioners could get success.
