Introduction

Professional development is the process by which employees progress through a series of stages characterized by different development tasks, activities and relationships. Professional development is the result of career planning and includes aspects that a person enriched or improved with a view to achieving objectives within the organization. It can occur through individual efforts or for support of the company where he works (Owen, 2004).

It begins in each person's willingness to achieve goals and acceptance of responsibility entailed. Several steps can be undertaken, considering possible outcomes:

Higher level of performance

Achievement of higher levels of performance is the surest way to achieve promotions and recognition at work. On the other hand, closer relationship with decision makers being best known for the person making promotions and transfers up their development potential, there is little willingness to promote strangers. An employee may increase the degree to which is known by its performance, by written reports, oral presentations, work on committees and special committees, and hours dedicated to daily task (Owen, 2004).

Developing a sense of loyalty to the organization

Many people put their professional interests to their organizations. Although the objective of maintaining the turnover to a minimum is very popular, most people who get worked climb executive positions for more than one company. Increasingly, the average employee feels excluded from the organization you serve. The executives of large organizations increasingly tend to regard their human resources with the same attitude with which they decide to purchase new equipment. In Eastern companies, there is a general feeling of strong attachment and loyalty to the company where you work (Messmer, 2005).

Training as a tool for professional development

Quality control also includes the development of employees, understanding the proper skills and training both to correct the company's issues and to advance its workforce. Corporations are able to dedicate entire divisions toward the issue of quality control. In the sector, the internal resources available to be dedicated toward quality control are very limited. The need for quality control, therefore, has led to the creation and expansion of organizations dedicated to building the capacity of and providing technical assistance to organizations (Messmer, 2005).
