The study is concerned about the strategies of approaching solutions to problems. These strategies are vital for the resolving the problem. This study focuses on two major problems solving strategies that are defining the problem and the analysis of the problem. An effective problem solving approach starts with defining the problem from a positive perspective. In other words, if a person feels lonely a positive outcome would be to make friends; if completing class assignments on time is a problem the positive goal would be to improve time management. Positively defining goal a problem involves describing what and where the person would like to be when the problem is resolved. The positive outcome is the hoped for goal.
Discussion
Understanding why a person is unable to reach the desired goal requires the identification of what inhibits and what promotes the progress toward a goal. That is, fully understanding a problem involves considering the specific areas of concern as well as the ways to achieve the desired resolution. Clarification and understanding of a problem area will then lead to strategies for problem resolution. Resolving problems will require work and energy on your part and the part of the student you are working with. (Bjorklund, 2000)
Problem Definition
The first strategy that an organization needs to focus is the defining or the identification of the problem. This strategy is important because before analyzing the situation, it is better to define the problem as it makes the process of problem solving easy. The process of defining the problem is important because it provide the organization a path where the process of problem solving cannot be distracted. (Davidson, 2003)This step involves thinking about the following questions:
What do organizations actually want, or how do organizations actually want ...
