Affirmative Actions and why should they be upheld

Introduction

This is an argumentative paper that will discuss the pros of affirmative action's and why there is a need to support them. To begin with there is will a brief introduction on affirmative action's and the background behind why there is a need to support such actions. In order to prove this point we will use a number of supportive information and in the end we will conclude the paper with the results we have generated.

Discussion

In the most simplest form affirmative action's can be considered as positive discrimination, where certain factors like for instance race, gender, color and nationality are considered for the purpose of supporting and benefiting an under represented group of people in matters that primarily have to do with employment, education and business as well. Affirmative action's can be considered as a counter affect to discrimination. The underlying purpose of affirmative actions is to promote equality and ensure that people have equal rights and are not undermined based on any discriminating factor. The major issue that is going to be discussed is that affirmative action's are not intended to judge others based on their race or any other similar attribute it aims at a larger sphere and focuses on providing people with equal opportunities so that people would not have to feel that they were robbed of ay opportunity based on some discriminating grounds.

According to Tomasson et al.(2001) Every person dislikes unfairness however our society has many interwoven practices that have clearly put some people at a disadvantage like for instance in the past it was considered to be acceptable for people to have black slaves and ignorant ...
