Prisoners often face issues between each other as they are not comfortable with each other. They have social and discriminatory issues between themselves. They fight with each other, do not accept each other practices and beliefs and many other problems that arise during their stay at prison.

The prison or jail usually is a facility authorized by the government. It is the place where they are incarcerated the inmates and is part of the system of justice in a country or nation. They can be plants in the imprisonment of prisoners of war. Part of the prison system, which is the set of prisons and the respective organization that manages.

The purpose of prisons has been changing throughout history. It went from being a mere means of retention for which expected a conviction, if a sentence in it. Living conditions in prisons are far from ideal living. The deprivation of liberty affects, and in some cases, imprisonment may be even harmful to the desire for reintegration of a prisoner.

Prison Environment influence on the Institutional Management and Custody

The prison environment influence on institutional management is the subject of extensive controversy; since the trends have changed considerably in the three countries considered leaders in penology, namely Canada, the UK and the United States. First, the U.S. inaugurated what has called the "season of the severity" of corrections American era characterized by an enormous increase in the prison population. Faced with this reality, prison managers had little choice other than to control that environment to the extreme limit of inmate activities, which partly explains the increasing popularity and phenomenal for maximum security enhanced (Liebling, 1992). It is, therefore, not surprising that each of the countries mentioned above gives a sign to review its correctional policies.

Changes to prison environments would improve institutional management

The current overcrowding in many prisons is contributing to a variety of problems which are currently under review by prison authorities. Principally, overcrowding means a lack of resources for prisoners; these may include shortages of educational, dental and health services. New plans should be launched to build a number of new prisons to ease overcrowding in the most severely affected establishments (Harden & Hill, 1998).
