Abstract

The linkage of culture and society is the theoretical function of the literature of McLuhan. The medium is the message is a recurrent topic to compare and contrast the characteristics of an oral culture and the print culture. The process of mechanization, lineal connection, creative configuration, and preexistent revolutions are the far state strategies for the communication technology. This paper illustrates light on the historical context for the framing nature of media to discuss the grey areas of political campaign. It also analyzes the difference in the diverging nature of broadcasting about the candidates of Presidential Elections of 2012 on two different media channels.

Introduction

An anthropological approach for understanding laws, concepts, theories, and dimensions of the subject matter is called framing. The development of mind to confront the reality related to subjects such as political sciences and sociology relates the umbrella of framing. This paper opens a platform to discuss the two faceted coins of New York Times and Fox News. The discussion on Democratic Party is the subject matter for the political campaigns of New York Times. Republican Party is the subject matter for the analysis of the Fox News campaign. The former is the left side while the latter is the right side of the argument (John, 2008).

The main purpose of this paper is to prepare a comparative outlook for both the aspects of the articles. The languages, images, thinking capacity, and approach used to conduct framing for these articles are another manifestation of this paper. The portrayal of Barack Obama and Mitt Romney with the assessment from other articles to run the campaign is another key issue to discuss two different political campaigns. The coverage of these issues also discusses the opinion from public which may converge or diverge the notion of the subject.

Discussion

Human communication cannot avoid framing. It is an important part to correlate the media and politics to understand different structures of our political perceptions. The research is social sciences used the term 'framing' for its application on national politics for various issues as part of diagnosis and a prescription to a complex event or problem. This section describes the theoretical knowledge on the medium is socially the message which is an important qualifier to understand the media and its role in framing the political campaigns (Frank, 2012). The section continues with the use of semiotics to interpret symbols and signs used in the articles from New York Times and Fox News.
