Preservation of the Environment by Christians

Introduction

The environment is an important part of our lives and a depleted environment can cause major issues. This environment is the creation of God and is therefore considered Holy; it means that when we destroy the environment we are actually destroying something sacred and thus we are committing a sin. Therefore, in order to gain holiness, faith, and repentance, there is a need to protect the environment and having the church as the leader of this conservation programs will be an effective move.

Discussion

The preservation and restoration of the environment has taken a different approach with the inclusion of several groups and people including the whole of Christianity as well as the Church. This move can only be successful when the entire community works together for the protection of the environment. Environmental conservation should not only consider certain groups but should focus on certain groups but should take everyone into account regarding these issues. Even Christians are in one way responsible for the preservation of the environment since it benefits everyone. At the same time, Christians are also responsible since they constitute the society (Story, 2012).

Holiness

The environment started before the creation of Adam and Eve and the first people were commanded to take care of the environment. This command was given by God and thus it has to be followed. Man cannot live without the environment since God created everything in a way that they are dependent on each other, but when humans start using the environment in a reckless manner, the people are the ones who face the most devastation due to this depletion. The church has the responsibility to provide proper theological responses to the environmental crises currently plaguing the world. The call for faith and repentance in environmental conservation is necessary at this point (Gill, 2006).

Perspective towards Nature

People believe differently when it comes to the conservation of nature. Some believe that in order to develop mankind, some sacrifices will have to be made. In this case, the environment is the thing that is being sacrificed. However, many people believe that this destruction of the environment will lead to major issues and a global catastrophe. If proper education is provided, this issue can be resolved since people will start to behave in a responsible way.

God has provided the solutions to these problems in the Bible. Jusus said, “It is not the things that we do that are unclean, but what flows out of our hearts: (Matt 15:10-11). This means that the behavior of humans is only a part of a major problem that needs to be corrected before it gets worse (Bloore, 2005).

There is a belief that the heart of man is good but this is not true; man has to always be kept under control because if left unchecked, he can destroy nature. Man is handicapped up to some extent since he cannot see everything clearly in the spiritual sense. The belief that God sees in ...
