Implications of Racism in relation to Prejudice

Introduction

Racism is an act, a belief or a practice that is considered to divide humans into separate parts. The difference causes different populations to separate them from others. The difference can be caused because of moral issues, ethnicity, intellect, location, ability or cultural backgrounds. Racism causes people to divide each other and rank others as superior or inferior.

Racism is something which is on both blatant and subtle way. Racists employ ideas to openly ridicule others and there are often racists which plot schemes against others because of their differences. The best example of blatant racism is that of the divide between the black and white in America and European countries. In these nations, many white people regard themselves as superior to black people just because they were born with that complexion.

According to many social scientists there are much health related negative impacts in United States that are caused because of racism. Racism not only has negative impacts on the conduct of children but also on the health of children who experience racism in their daily life. The prospects of healthy development are in danger of the minorities who experience racism in their daily lives in the United States. The role which is placed on adolescent development and child's health is described in detail by the existing development theories. A model is incorporated and synthesized by many development principles and the theory of social cognition. The model presents the idea of child development and how racism harms the health of children. Different types of design and suggestions are offered. Empirical inquiry on the topic of racism has been indicated (Morris, 1995).

According to him the researchers have not explicitly addressed the impact of racism on young mind via psychological theories. Racism even poses a threatening impact on adolescents who tend to exhibit and mod their behavior in accordance to the treatment they receive from the society. According to Crisp & Turner, (2010), the type of racism that is impacting the children's life negatively falls in the category of blatant expression and is Old-fashioned racism. However, the Old-fashioned society has been moving towards molding prejudice to Aversive racism in which there are equal sort emotions are prevailing to uphold justice in the presence of negative ones. Morris has explicitly blamed the prejudices in separating the minorities from the rest of the groups.

In the article by Clark et al. (2013), the author has explored particular stressors that are affecting the life of African Americans. According to Clark and his team African Americans are significantly stressed by intra-ethnic groups and interethnic groups (Hogg and Cooper, ...
