Movie “Precious” is based on the novel 'Push' written by Sapphire. This movie has depicted the challenges of life faced by teenage girl. The story of the girl Precious and the attitude of her mother with Precious are spoiling her not only physically but also emotionally and psychologically. Parenting style of Precious' mother

The parenting style adopted by Precious's mother is detachable, an uninvolved parenting style. She did not possess any affection for her daughter. The demonstration of such behavior is that she never tried to safe her from the violence behavior of her biological father. Instead of providing protection to her daughter, she always supported her husband and blame Precious of being abused. She possessed the kind of uninvolved parenting style, in which parents do not get involve in order fulfilling the demands of the child. Such parents used to reduce their interaction time with their children that lead to the negligence. The mother of Precious showed the negligence in case of Precious and did not provide protection to her in getting abused by her husband. Her mother was self centred and involved only in her life. She was not performing her responsibilities as a mother.
