Poverty and Ethnicity

Introduction

The raising income gap between the rich and the poor is a serious issue of concern. The economic and financial crisis has adversely affected the consumption patterns of UK population. The lives of UK citizens are adversely affected. The rich is getting richer, and the poor is getting poorer. According to my analysis, the raising income gap is the most important issue that needs urgent attention . It is the working class which is working day and night striving for a decent standard of living. However, it is the elite class and entrepreneurs who are getting the fruits of their hard work and sacrifices. Moreover, the work timings are getting longer. The pay raises, old age benefits and wage rate have declined. To make thing worse, despite doing the hard work, the jobs are not secure, and the unemployment rate is continuously inclining. Poverty devalues human existence because there is no reason for it to continue other than the fact that the wealthy people get benefit from poor population and from third world and under developed countries. Poverty rates vary dramatically across the UK's ethnic groups - an issue of concern both for poverty reduction policies and for social justice. This book provides a comprehensive account of these variations and explores the reasons why they occur.

Racism is indicated not only by biased demeanor, but also by structural relationships, institutional practices, and political ideologies, all of which are often examined as a normative component of our civilization.

UK is the one of the place in the whole globe where the presence of racism is in larger repugnance. If we compare different sorts of offenses, it would be revealed to us that, in UK these offenses are more reprehensible. In the societies of UK, the offences of killing, arson, robbery and rape are so common that the public and media portray these stories almost every day but the most significant phenomenon that is shrugged off as part and parcel of the inescapable texture of the life of UK (Quillan, 2006, pp. 299). Racism is the phenomenon that is never shrugged off. For instance, one of the common aspects of racism can be found in educational institutes. Many of the people in UK consider Asians, Hispanics, Africans and other ethnic groups as beneath them. They think themselves as superiors and look down upon any individual who is slightly different from them. They establish exclusive clubs for all whites which make the people belonging to different ethnicity, left out. Many Asians, Africans, Hispanics etc do not get respectable jobs. Even if they do get proper jobs they get lesser salaries ...
