Introduction

The phenomenon of Postpartum Depression refers to a period of non-psychotic depressive that starts in and widespread into the period of postpartum. PPD-Postpartum depression can develop from an already case of the baby blues or it can also become more prominent in the initial weeks right after giving birth to a baby. The period of postpartum depression can last more than 10 weeks or as long as 14 months. That is the reason it is regarded as the depression that most affects the new mothers. The intensity of depression is more serious as compare to the feeling of down or sad for shorter period of time. Women's who have gone through the depression feel anxious, empty, guilt , poor parenting self-efficacy, negative maternal attitudes and sad for extended period of time.

However, no matter if the symptoms are severe or mild, but they can change the routine life of have impact on daily activities, personal relationships and responsibilities. But it has been observed that the treatment for depression is mostly effective. There are multitude treatment options for postpartum depression that involves interpersonal therapy, among them the most known treatment for PPD is pharmaceutical intervention (Andrea & Jennifer, 2011). Women's who suffer from the postpartum depression undergo considerable consequences specifically from their ability to deal with the events of their life which also includes parenting tasks. Postpartum Depression brings out negative clinical propositions for mother and child attachment. This paper will be focusing on specifically the postpartum depression in women.

Every woman knows how it usually responds to changes and stress. If, after the birth of its child, what goes beyond and what is known from experience, definitely she should seek some help, but that does not mean she has postpartum depression. This disorder has many symptoms that impede normal functioning. The characteristic feature of this feeling is disturbed sleep and appetite, feeling of incompetence and lack of feeling joy in dealing with the child. Almost every young mother is sometimes tired, sleepy and worried. But it draws its strength from the fact that the child looks at her, he was smiling, he pulls her hands. Mother having postpartum depression is devoid of positive reinforcement that is its contact with the child is not positive (Andrea & Jennifer, 2011).

Postpartum depression varies in different degrees and it affects nearly 50% of women who give birth. Hormonal changes in women are partially responsible for this phenomenon in women. And another reason for its occurrence can also be extreme fatigue. The first few months after birth, require a lot of energy. During the initial days, baby requires a lot of attention from his/her mother because of combination of different reasons, due to which mother could not get time to recover from post birth fatigue.
