Introduction
Positive Psychology is the field of scientific studies that relate to the virtues and strengths that enable communities and individuals to thrive. This field of scientific studies is based on the belief that the people have the desire to lead a life that is filled with meaning and fun. It holds that the people want to cultivate the best that is within them and further their experiences of work, play and love. It a useful method that uncovers the inner most powers of an individual through maintaining a balance using an approach that is positive. The technique aims at achieving perspectives that are well managed in an individual's well being. Positive Psychology strives to understand the well-being and the happiness of the people. It is widely considered as a logical scientific approach for highlighting constructive functioning by uncovering the inner effort. The main objective of positive Psychology pertains to increasing the human powers by maintaining those emotions which are positive, and rejecting those that are not.
Coaching and leadership development are two concepts that develop an individual's personal abilities in improving his performance and behavior. The processes of both, coaching and leadership are same as they are simply conversations that take place among two people. There are, however significant subtle variances in the style, aim and emphasis, (Seligman, 2000). Coaching is skill focused, task oriented and limited in time. Leadership, on the other hand focuses more on the personal development openly. In reality, there happens to be an overlap among both the approaches. It is better to understand the origins, application and evolution in developing leadership.
