Background

My name is Akwinder Kaur and I am currently studying in the University of Balarat and am a senior nursing student. I am a Manchester born, NH and attended catholic schooling up until grade second. I moved to Exeter at the age of 8 and have been lived here ever since. My God, family, friends as well as the people who have loved me, raised me, taught me and made me the person that I am today are responsible for the numerous experiences I have had in my while growing up. The dreams and goals that I have are a result of being highly impacted by the people and events that I have had the pleasure to encounter throughout my life.

In 2005, I attended and graduated from Exeter Area High School with honors. I have been really active in clubs which were community service oriented as well as sports at my time here in Balarat University. I played football which is known as soccer as well as I used to run spring and winter tracks. A great deal of my motivation, independence, teamwork, balancing school life, self-discipline and people skills as well as personal life is due to me being involved in these clubs and high school teams. I had been awarded with many leadership opportunities which include me being the captain of University of Balrat Track and Field for two years at both the outdoor as well as the indoor. I have played soccer for at least three years. Apart from my sporting activities and interest, I was also a part of a key club which served the community as a whole. During the volunteer work, I especially enjoyed helping the disabled children, organizing the drives and schedules of food, setting up potential fund raising services for the tragic event of 9/11. As I worked in this club as a member, I got exposed to many social issues the world is facing today. This is what really inspired me to opt for the field of nursing as I really wanted to make a difference by helping the people all over the world and marking my name.

Another extremely important aspect of background is the place that I came from or belongs to. My family is considered to be as one of my most prized possessions. I feel gifted as well as blessed to have been born in such an amazing family. I am one of four children and by the grace of God I was raised by both my parents. I have a younger sister who is 9 years old, another brother who is 13 and much younger than me as well and finally brother who is a little older than me and 22 years old.
