Dragon's Den Project Summary
BPP Organic Food Company is a vegetarian health food store located in the heart of BPP University Campus. The campus community is made up of a diverse, cross cultural and health oriented student body, academics, administrators and other professionals. The size of the market is well over 20,000 individuals and potential customers. BPP Organic Food Company aims to provide chemical and preservative free groceries, eco-household products and cruelty-free body care.
The idea for the company was generated by members of my team and me. While considering the levels of obesity reached by many countries around the globe and the fast food culture prevalent in many societies. We questioned the inherent need for people to go for a diet that is unhealthy and in the long run life threatening, due to its associated repercussions, inclusive of high cholesterol, blood pressure and obesity (Cole et.al, 2000, pp. 1240-1243). The next task is to efficiently ship these food products to the store and then to the consumer. We are working on charting an efficient supply chain strategy that brings our supplies to the store in less than 3 days. This practice would preserve freshness and delectability of our organic food products.
The start-up costs are broken down into costs associated with supply chain management, setting up shop and fixtures and fittings necessary to maintain the decor and freshness of our organic food products. Another expense incurred would be labor and human resource expense. Our projections for the business model suggest a seed funding requirement of £100,000. Based on our future predictive business models, we expect our sales to be approximately £70,000 in the first year of business. The sales are projected to rise by 15% year on year, based on market acceptability of our business, projected growth in organic food demands in UK and lessening of financial ...
