Activities of International Labor Organization

Introduction

International Labor organization was developed in the year 1919 and is known as the special agency of the of the United Nation with the primary responsibilities of controlling the work of all around the world, the primary task of ILO is to look forward to the principles and standards of international labor and ensure that all its assistant member are effectively implementing those principles and guidelines (International Labor Organization, 2010), (ILO, 2005).

Some of these standards and principles include the basic rights and fundamental principle of work like freedom of work from forced and labor of child, work right without being discriminated, and freedom of selling and purchasing of product without the hurdle of association (International Labor Organization, 2010).

Recently the agency has developed a new work agenda with the name of “Decent work agenda” according to its principles and objectives, through this agenda the ILO tries to accomplish two major aspects, the first important aspect that this agency try to ensure that whatever work is done is for the benefit and well being of the individuals, and secondly tries to promote the idea that through quality work we can enhance the overall economic and social implications of the world and also bring the individuals families together irrespective of the culture (International Labor Organization, 2010) (ILO, 2005).

The overall duties and objective of the international labor organization is developed on the basis of four unified and commonly developed strategic objective of the organization, these four objectives are

Creation of Jobs

To ensure that all the employees are give their work rights

To ensure protection of foreign national working in any country

To promote sound relationship between every country.

International Labor organization is conducting of about more than 1000 technical corporation programs in more than 80 countries with the support of 60 donor institutions across the world, further another important features of ILO is that all of its management activities of all branches throughout the world are based on decentralized control system.

Due to its uniform nature of “Tripartite” across all the function of the organization it has the ability of bringing entire stakeholders of the world like Government , organization and approved union of Employees on one platform and with the contribution and suggestion of all these stakeholders policies are developed which are for the betterment of work across the globe (ILO, 2005), (Smith, E, M, 2010)

All the activities of the International Labor Organization is accomplished with the help of three individual bodies working: governing body of ILO, international Labor conference and international labor office, moreover the work of the ILO is also guided by another committee which comprises of people from specific sectors and industries

Recently in the year 2011 the chairmen ship of ILO governing body is taken by Australia for a period of one year, before that Australia was working as the regional coordinator of Asia- Specific of government for the period of two years as it was also known as the active member of the market ...
