The goal at hand in this project, is the overall analysis of the environmental impact of motor vehicles and is intended to provide an overview of developments in recent years, European directives applied to those vehicles with respect to emissions , the use of hazardous materials and recycling of their components. To begin proceeds to expose a brief introduction to the problem of air pollution and a study of the life cycle of a car vehicle to publicize the main pollutants emitted by it throughout this life during the most critical phases and waste at the end of its useful life and the treatment thereof. Then there will be a study on the effects of these pollutants in life on planet earth, on society and the phenomena that cause climate change.

From this information continues with an assessment of the effects that such emissions cause in the global environment, and outlines the side effects that can affect ecosystems and biodiversity. This project is an analysis of the environmental impacts that occur during the different phases of the life cycle of a motor vehicle, focusing on the most critical phases, and the degree of significance of impacts. They should publicize and review the current European regulations, with respect to pollution from automobiles. It also looks at the most important gases that are emitted into the atmosphere without forgetting the noise pollution and hazardous waste materials generated by vehicles as well as their treatment and recycling processes.

At this point is to expose the temporal evolution of these directives from their first drafts to the present, and relate it to the technological developments caused by the manufacturers as a means of adaptation to the regulations by reviewing the protocols, agreements and partnerships for the cause. After this analysis, outlines the possible measures undertaken by both vehicle manufacturers and the government to minimize the problems previously identified. It will therefore be of great importance to know the strategies and gather solutions and technologies developed by manufacturers in the process. Finally we draw conclusions concerning future developments and possible corrective regulatory alternative ways to help reduce environmental pollution from vehicle. In addition, to complete this research has some helpful tips on eco-driving, and offers some basic information on existing vehicles on the market today and features.

Introduction

Today, much is said about the care of the environment, the various actions that each person makes to pollute less, and environmental government policies. However, little has been done on the use and dissemination of information to consumers, i.e., we do not know for sure the impact of cosmetics, household cleaning products, fuels, perfumes, and bath products have towards the environment (Fleischman, 1995).
